‘Black Magic’ Kale - Italian. - Known by the names of Italian Lacinato, Nero di Toscana, Dinosaur Kale, Black Cabbage, and other names. It is an heirloom that dates back to the 1700s.It will thrive in both hot and cold weather in different climates, quite well.Harvest young leaves for salads, while the older leaves are best steamed, cooked, sautéed.It contains twice the amount of the vitamin Cin orange juice at the same portion and also more calcium than milk.

It produces extra dark blue-green, non-curly but heavily blistered leaves that are 3-4” wide and 11-19” long.The flavor is enhanced by the light frost but it can be eaten at any time.Despite its appearance, it is one of the more tender varieties.It is a biennial and may survive winters in protected areas or in warmer climates, if well mulched.

Some tolerance to late-season mildew and great performance in cooler weather.
