New to Mizz Tizzy's is Rue - Ruta graveolens and included (below) on the new seed packet if our version of the "Four Thieves Vinegar Tonic" recipe.
Rue has been used for a very long time, recorded back to ancient times. It is a beautiful plant with a heavenly aromatic scent that will also waft through your gardens. The foliage is light blue-green and fernlike, with yellow flowers. A great addition to the color and texture of your gardens.
It has been used forever to rid the home of unpleasant vibes, and bad spirits by hanging bouquets of it in windows and doors. Many plant, to this day, hang Rue at their doors to protect against bad spirits. It was also used to wear on your belt to keep witches away. However, it is also said that if your pick a spring in the moring or on a Sunday as it will be a beneficial “herb of Grace.” There is also an old folk tale that states that Rue will grow at it’s very best if it has been stolen before planting. Now that is interesting. In Scotland it is used as a symbol of the highest order of civility, on the collar of the Order of the Thistle.
