Description
This is a very ancient vegetable of Japan’s. It is much loved and also goes by the name of Okahijiki which is also the name given for seaweed which is Hijiki. The leaves have a salty and slightly tart taste that adds a zing to any dish but especially mixed with angel hair pasta. It is also used a micro-green. It is known as both an herb and a vegetable. It is best to grow them in the cooler months of spring and fall, and to harvest the leaves when they are young.
