The darkest red oak leaf variety there is. It is very slow to bolt as well. Wonderful flavor and richness and grows well in all seasons. Introduced in the early 1950s. Its maroon-red, deeply cut and finely divided leaves are crisp and delicious and make an eye-catching addition mixed with green lettuce. Some tolerance to late-season mildew and great performance in cooler weather.
